Each 1984 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is housed in a plastic flip to help protect its condition. In 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint added the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leafs to the series, marking the first two fractional-ounce coins introduced after the original 1 oz coin.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1984 Gold Maple Leaf displays Queen Elizabeth IIs portrait, created by British artist Arnold Machin. This second-generation image shows Her Majesty at the age of 39 in a right-profile relief and is the last portrait of the Queen in this series that was not designed by a Canadian artist.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 1984 Gold Maple Leaf features Walter Otts classic sugar maple leaf design, which symbolizes Canadas national pride. Originally created for the Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979, this design reflects Canadas natural beauty and heritage.
