Product Description

The Chinese Panda bullion series has been cherished by collectors since its introduction by the Chinese Mint in 1982. Originally, the series featured gold bullion and silver proof coins. However, in 1989, the Chinese Mint transitioned its Proof Silver Pandas into a dependable BU Silver Panda collection, offering 1 Troy oz coins crafted from .999 pure silver. Now, you can add the 1993 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins to your collection, available for purchase online at BGASC.

Highlights:

  • Each coin is safely housed in sealed plastic pouches!
  • This release marks the 9th edition of Silver Pandas!
  • Noteworthy large date marks!
  • Limited mintage of just 13,000 coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Officially issued a face value of 10 Yuan by China.
  • The obverse features the beloved Giant Panda.
  • The reverse showcases the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests.

These 1993 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins come sealed in plastic pouches for protection. Notably, they feature large date marks, indicating they were struck at the Shanghai Mint. The mintage of 1993 Silver Pandas at Shanghai was roughly one-third the volume of those issued at the Shenyang Mint with small date marks.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1993 1 oz Silver Panda Coins depicts the iconic Giant Panda. Each year in this series brings a new portrayal of the Giant Panda, with the exception of the 2002 coin. In 1993, the mint depicted a Giant Panda seated in left-profile relief on a rock ledge, surrounded by bamboo shoots.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 1993 Chinese Silver Panda coin, you’ll find the image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design, a recurring motif, depicts the exterior of the building that serves as the centerpiece of the Temple of Heaven Complex.

History

Giant pandas are almost exclusively herbivorous, with bamboo making up over 99% of their diet. They have specialized adaptations, including a pseudo-thumb, to help them grasp bamboo stalks. Despite their digestive system being more typical of carnivores, they have evolved to efficiently digest bamboo.
