Obverse

Reverse

Turning to the reverse side, the coin displays the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This building is the centerpiece of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and has been featured on every Gold Panda coin since the series began. The artwork shows the structure as seen from the bottom of its staircase, looking up toward the main entrance.

History

Outside their regular feeding schedule, pandas rest for a few hours, often lying back in a relaxed position with their legs stretched out. In the remaining hours, they groom themselves, explore their territory, or play. Pandas tend to be most active in the early morning and at dusk, quietly moving through the forest in search of soft bamboo shoots. Even with their large frames, pandas can climb trees when needed to reach food or avoid danger.
