Comprising 91.67% gold, 3% silver, and 5.33% copper, these coins consistently boast high annual mintage numbers since their debut in 1986. In 2005, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagles were only about 56,500 coins short of the 1 oz mintage. As the price of gold began to climb in 2001, reaching over $500 per ounce by 2005, these coins became highly sought after. Starting the year at $435.60 per ounce, gold concluded 2005 at $513.00 per ounce, marking a notable 17% increase.
