Each 2008-W 1/2 oz American Gold Buffalo Coin is shipped in a protective plastic capsule. The burnished finish gives the coin a soft, matte surface. This finish is achieved by polishing the gold blanks before striking. Each coin was struck once, producing a smooth appearance that sets it apart from standard bullion coins.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2008-W 1/2 oz Gold Buffalo Coin features the well-known Native American profile by James Earle Fraser. First used on the Buffalo Nickel in 1913, this design combines the features of Iron Tail, Two Moons, and John Big Tree. Frasers artwork highlights traditional braided hair, defined facial features, and a calm expression that reflects strength and dignity.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2008-W American Gold Buffalo displays Frasers American bison design. The image was inspired by Black Diamond, a buffalo housed at the New York Central Park Zoo in the early twentieth century. Standing firmly on a mound, the bison represents stability and power while honoring the animals role in early American history.
History
The 2008 issue year is unique within the Gold Buffalo series. It is the only year that fractional-ounce coins were produced, including the 1/2 oz size. It also marks the only release of a Burnished Gold Buffalo. Among burnished issues, the 1/2 oz coin recorded the second-highest mintage, trailing only the 1/10 oz version.

How Does Free Shipping Work?
When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
When will my order ship?
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
Can I choose the method of shipping?
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
Will I need to sign for my package?
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
What about International Orders?
BGASC is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
