Your 2012 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin will arrive in a clear plastic capsule. This years coin release included three sizes: 1 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilo. The 1 oz coin had the largest mintage with 500,000 coins, followed by the 1 Kilo version with 51,596 coins.

Obverse

On the obverse of the coin is a familiar image of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait was created by Ian Rank-Broadley and was introduced in 1998. It shows the Queen in profile with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and was widely used on coins in Australia.

Reverse

The reverse of this 1 Kilo Silver Kookaburra Coin shows a large kookaburra resting on a tree branch. Its most notable feature, a sturdy and sharp bill, helps it catch prey ranging from insects to snakes with precise strikes.

History
