The 2012 release of American Silver Eagles witnessed a unique retreat in mintage compared to previous years. After consecutive record-setting mintages from 2008 to 2011, peaking at 40.02 million coins in 2011, the 2012 mintage reduced to 33.742 million coins. Although this represented a significant year-over-year drop, it still stood as the third-highest mintage in the series at that time. Today, the 2012 release holds the seventh-highest recorded mintage in the series.
