These 2013-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are certified in PR69 condition. The PR69 grade means each coin is nearly flawless, showing only a couple of tiny imperfections like contact marks or light hairlines. These flaws are found outside the coins main focal areas, ensuring the design remains crisp and clear. A DCAM label (deep-cameo) points to the contrast between frosted features and the mirror-like finish.
Obverse
On the obverse, Weinmans Walking Liberty appears once again. It remains one of the most respected designs in American coin history, admired for its symbolism and classic beauty. Libertys forward stride captures the essence of hope and renewal.
Reverse
The reverse shows the heraldic eagle, designed by John Mercanti in 1986. The eagle faces forward with its wings spread wide, a shield resting on its chest. It holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons, and 13 stars sit above the design to represent the original colonies.
History
The obverse of this coin features the Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. This design first appeared on the half-dollar coin from 1916 to 1947 and is rooted in classical artistic traditions. Weinman was inspired by the French Sower image from Oscar Roty and portrayed Liberty wrapped in the American flag, walking toward the rising sun. This image stands for national progress and the enduring spirit of liberty.
