Harding, a newspaper publisher who would later become the President of the United States. Florence embraced the role of stepmother to Warren’s son, Warren Jr., from his previous marriage.

History

Florence had chronic health problems, including a chronic kidney condition. She was known to be quite private about her health issues during her time as First Lady. Tragically, Florence Harding passed away on November 21, 1924, from renal failure, just over two years into her husband’s presidency. Her death was deeply mourned, and she was buried next to her husband in Marion, Ohio.
