History

The American Silver Eagle, the official silver bullion coin of the United States, debuted in 1986. To celebrate the 35th anniversary in 2021, the US Mint updated the reverse design for the first time. From 1986 until mid-2021, the coin featured a heraldic eagle. For the latter half of 2021, the reverse was redesigned to feature a new soaring bald eagle. The Gold Eagle Series also underwent a similar redesign with different designs.
