To celebrate 35 years of the American Silver Eagle, the United States Mint introduced two versions of the coin in 2021. The Type 1 coin featured the original reverse from John Mercanti, while the Type 2 coin debuted a new reverse designed by Emily Damstra. These changes were part of a larger update to the American Eagle lineup. Certified 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins are now available from BGASC.

These coins are graded Mint State 70 by NGC and come in protective plastic slabs. The West Point Core label recognizes the West Point Mints contribution to the series. MS70 coins show full mint luster without visible flaws. First Day of Issue coins were received for grading within 24 hours of release.
Obverse
The obverse of the coin displays Walking Liberty, a design created by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916. Liberty is shown walking toward the sun with the American flag flowing around her. The design has remained a central feature of the Silver Eagle series since its launch. In 2021, the Mint restored Weinmans AW initials to the lower-right field.
Reverse
The reverse features the updated bald eagle image from Emily Damstra. After reviewing more than 30 design concepts, the Mint selected this detailed portrayal of an eagle approaching its nest with an oak branch. This new image replaced the heraldic eagle reverse that had been used since 1986.
History
As part of the anniversary celebration, production began in 2021 with the original reverse before pausing in June for the design transition. After the brief halt, the Mint resumed striking coins with the new Type 2 reverse. The American Gold Eagle program also received a new reverse during this time.

How Does Free Shipping Work?
When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
When will my order ship?
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
Can I choose the method of shipping?
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
Will I need to sign for my package?
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
What about International Orders?
BGASC is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
