Obverse

In the obverse design of the 2023 Rwandan Nile Crocodile Gold Coin is the national coat of arms. The seal of the Republic of Rwanda features branches of sorghum and coffee on either side of a traditional basket. The design is flanked by traditional battle shields and topped by the sun.

Reverse

For the reverse face of 2023 1 oz Nile Crocodile Gold Coins, the mint features the long-running image of the African continent. This years design is accompanied by the image of a Nile Crocodile with its powerful jaws open wide to expose its deadly teeth.

History

The Rwandan Wildlife Series has been available since 2008 with a new reverse animal design each year. The coins were originally offered as 1 oz silver and 1 oz proof silver options, with 1 oz gold bullion and 1 oz platinum bullion coins eventually introduced.
