Obverse

For the obverse design of the 2023 Proof American Gold Eagle Coin, the US Mint features Augustus Saint-Gaudens depiction of Lady Liberty. This design was created in 1907 and shows the full-length figure of Liberty walking away from the U.S. Capitol Building.

Reverse

In the reverse field of 2023 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle, you will find the image of an American bald eagle. This design from Jennie Norris was created in 2020 and debuted on the coins in the series in 2021 to mark its 35th anniversary.

History

In total, the US Mint offers a total of 16,000 coins for the 1/2 oz gold weight. However, the US Mint will only offer 3,000 coins with the capsule, presentation box, and Certificate of Authenticity.
