Any such flaws, if present, are small contact marks or hairlines and are located away from the primary focal points of the coin. The Early Release designation is given to coins certified within 30 days of their issuance by the mint.

Obverse

The obverse of these coins features a captivating depiction of Lady Liberty. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, this front-facing relief showcases Lady Liberty holding a torch and an olive branch, surrounded by sun rays and encircled by a ring of stars.

Reverse

On the reverse side, you’ll find the striking image of the American bald eagle, portrayed in a left-profile relief. This design, created by Jennie Norris, beautifully captures the essence of the bald eagle’s natural elegance.

History

In the late 1990s, the Y2K crisis drove demand for American Gold Eagles to unprecedented levels, resulting in a record-breaking 2.75 million 1/10 oz Gold Eagle coins sold in 1999 alone. This still stands as the highest single-year sales record for any individual weight in the series.
