Obverse

The obverse side of the 2024 South Korean Gold Tiger showcases a powerful tiger. The design features the tiger in a left-profile relief, leaping from the foliage in pursuit of its prey. A lake in the crater of the shield volcano is visible in the background.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Gold Tiger Medal displays the Korean peninsula. This design focuses on the peninsula’s outline filled with the letters of the Korean alphabet, a signature element since the series began in 2018.

History

A small population of tigers persisted in the remote mountainous regions of North Korea until the mid-20th century, but their exact extinction date remains uncertain.
