Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 Jonah and the Large Fish Biblical Silver Coin, youll see an effigy of King Charles III. Designed by Jody Clark, this portrait captures Charles III in a left-facing profile, crownless.
Reverse
On the reverse, Jonah surrenders to God, as a great fish appears. Instead of letting him drown, God sends the “great fish” to swallow Jonah, where he remains for three days and nights. Within the fish, Jonah offers a prayer of repentance, thanking God for His mercy, as recounted in Jonah, Chapter 2.
History
Jonah’s experience is also significant in Christian tradition, as Jesus himself references Jonah’s three days in the fish as a foreshadowing of his own death and resurrection, saying that just as Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and nights, so would the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth.
