In 1986, the American Silver Eagle series was introduced, with the San Francisco Mint tasked with producing both the Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) and Proof versions of the coin. Between 1986 and 1992, the San Francisco Mint was the exclusive producer of Proof Silver Eagles, marking each coin with the S mint mark. In 2019, the San Francisco Mint resumed its production of these Proof coins annually. BGASC is proud to offer the 2024-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins.

Each 2024-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coin available at BGASC comes in a protective plastic capsule. The coins are packaged in an official US Mint box with a themed outer shipper, along with a Certificate of Authenticity. The proof finish of these coins features frosted design elements against deeply mirrored fields.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2024-S Proof American Silver Eagle displays the iconic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. Created in 1916, it portrays Liberty in a full-length profile, walking toward the rising sun with her right hand outstretched and an oak and laurel branch in her left. The American flag flows behind her.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2024-S 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coin presents a modern bald eagle design by Emily Damstra. Introduced in 2021, this design shows the eagle in flight, wings raised as it clutches an oak branch in its talons.

History

Over the decades, the production of Proof Silver Eagles has shifted among the various US Mint branches. From 1993 to 2000, the Philadelphia Mint exclusively handled production. Then, from 2001 to 2018, the West Point Mint took over. Since 2019, the San Francisco Mint has once again taken up the role of striking these S-Proof Silver Eagles, supplementing the ongoing W-Proof production at the West Point Mint.
