Each 2025 1/4 oz Malta Gold Maltese Cross Coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and comes sealed in a capsule for protection. These coins are legal tender in Malta with a 25 Euro face value, supported by the Central Bank of Malta.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2025 coin, youll find the Central Bank of Maltas official seal. The imagery includes a shield flanked by two knights, with the iconic Maltese Cross on either side. The background features radiating lines that give depth and enhance the overall appearance.

Reverse

The reverse showcases the classic Maltese Cross design. Its eight points and narrow v-shaped arms were originally worn on armor to show unity and faith. The design, often shown in white against a red field, became a lasting symbol of commitment and sacrifice during the Crusades.

History

The cross became especially symbolic in 1565, when the Knights of Malta defended the island from Ottoman forces during the Great Siege. Although Napoleons arrival in 1798 ended the knights rule, the Maltese Cross lived on as a powerful sign of courage and support for those in need.
