Product Description
The American Gold Buffalo is the only coin the United States Mint produces each year using 24-karat gold. First released in 2006, it was also the Mints first coin made with .9999 pure gold. Unlike other US Mint series that feature Lady Liberty or bald eagles, the Gold Buffalo uses a design inspired by a historic coin from over 100 years ago. BGASC now has 2025 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Coins available in flawless condition.

Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Gold Buffalo displays a Native American man in right-profile. Fraser combined facial details from three different indigenous chiefs to create this image. This marked one of the earliest uses of Native American representation on US coins.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Buffalo Coin shows an American bison standing on a dirt mound. The animal shown is modeled after Black Diamond, a bison who lived at the Central Park Zoo in New York and was used as Frasers reference when designing the original Buffalo Nickel.
History
James Earle Fraser created the artwork featured on this coin back in 1913 for the Buffalo Nickel. Fraser, an American sculptor, wanted to capture a uniquely American look by highlighting Native American culture and wildlife. His designs are considered some of the most influential in US coinage history.
