Obverse
On the front side of the coin is a portrait of King Charles III. This design was created by artist Martin Jennings and was first introduced in 2022. It features the king in a left-facing view without a crown.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2025 1 oz Platinum Tudor Beasts Coin presents the Greyhound of Richmond standing behind a shield featuring the Three Lions. This image represented the Tudor familys role in continuing royal authority and was a familiar feature in the visual arts of their time.
History
The Greyhound of Richmond was connected to the Tudor family through Henry VIIs mother, Margaret Beaufort. The white greyhound was part of the Beaufort family crest. After coming to power in 1485, Henry VII included this symbol in his own badge to help support his claim to the throne. The greyhound then became a common element in Tudor artwork, official papers, and architectural design.
