History

By the early 2000s, the population of tigers in Cambodia had dwindled alarmingly, with the last confirmed sighting in 2007. Despite efforts to create protected areas such as the Seima Protection Forest and the Cardamom Mountains, extensive surveys from 2010 to 2020 did not identify any wild tigers remaining in the country.
