These proof coins feature a mirror-like background with frosted design features. This release corresponds with the Apostle Islands in the America the Beautiful Series, an area known for natural beauty, sandstone cliffs, and historic lighthouses on Lake Superior.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 1 oz Proof NATB Wisconsin Silver Coin shows Pontiac, a notable war leader of the Odawa people. He is pictured with a war hatchet lifted overhead, symbolizing resistance and leadership. Pontiac is remembered for his efforts in rallying Native tribes during the 18th century to push back against expanding British rule.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2025 Proof Native America the Beautiful Wisconsin Coin includes a bold image of the bald eagle. The eagles head is centered in an eight-pointed star with arrowheads filling the spaces between the points. This design element reflects the strength and unity seen throughout the NATB Series.

History

Between 1763 and 1766, Pontiac led a series of uprisings known as Pontiacs War. These actions were part of a broader Native movement against British control following the French and Indian War. The coordinated effort succeeded in taking multiple forts and holding Detroit under siege, forcing British officials to reconsider their treatment of Native peoples.
