Obverse

The obverse side of the coin carries the national coat of arms of Samoa. A palm tree and ocean waves are depicted within the shield, along with the Southern Cross constellation. A cross rests above the shield, and beneath it is a banner with the motto FAAVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA, meaning Samoa is Founded on God.

Reverse

The reverse shows a golden eagle in flight. These birds are known for their speed and precision while hunting, capable of diving at speeds over 150 mph. Their diet includes small mammals like rabbits and marmots, as well as birds and carrion when needed.

History

Golden eagles have a notable presence in the wild, with wings that can span up to 7.5 feet. Weighing between 6 and 15 pounds, females are usually larger than males. They are known for their golden-brown head and neck feathers, darker bodies, and strong talons capable of gripping with immense force.
