Mount Rushmore was brought to life through the work of Gutzon Borglum, who led its creation between 1927 and 1941. Located in South Dakotas Black Hills, this grand sculpture features the 60-foot likenesses of four U.S. presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln. The 2025 5 oz Proof Solomon Islands 100th Anniversary of Mt. Rushmore Silver Coin is packaged in a display box with a themed outer sleeve. A Certificate of Authenticity is included with each coin. These proof specimens feature frosted imagery, mirrored backdrops, and a salmon-colored Mother of Pearl inlay on the reverse.

Obverse

On the obverse of the coin is the image of King Charles III. This left-profile bust by Dan Thorne is a first-generation portrait that shows the King without a crown.

Reverse

The reverse displays a scenic view of Mount Rushmore as seen through the trees at the base of the monument. The four presidential faces appear above, and a red Mother of Pearl inlay brings a sunset-like hue to the design.

History

Workers had to remove over 450,000 tons of granite to make way for the massive portraits. Much of the detailing was done while suspended on ropes, giving the monument its incredible precision. Mount Rushmore was intended to represent American ideals and historical leadership. Each president was selected to represent key points in the nations pathWashington for founding, Jefferson for expansion, Roosevelt for progress, and Lincoln for unity.
