Obverse

On the obverse of 2025 Somalia Silver Elephant Coins, youll find the Somali coat of arms. The crowned shield in the design has a star at the center and is supported by leopards on both sides. Beneath the shield, crossed spears and palm fronds are depicted.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 5 oz Silver Elephant Coin showcases an African bush elephant walking across the savanna. This years design features the elephant in front-facing relief with its tusks extending near the ground, its large ears filling the coins design field. In the background, youll find a small tree, brush, and the rising sun.

History

The African bush elephant has a gestation period of about 22 months, which is the longest of any land mammal. When the calf is born, it weighs roughly 200 pounds. The herd helps raise the calf, with female relatives of the mother, such as aunts and sisters, playing a role in whats called allomothering.
