In 2021, the United States Mint reintroduced collectors to two historic silver dollarsMorgan and Peace Dollarsmarking a century since their shared turning point in 1921. These 2025 Morgan Silver Dollars are delivered individually. Each one comes in a capsule housed inside an official US Mint display box. The outer sleeve features a Morgan Dollar theme, and the box includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 release, youll find Liberty as envisioned by George T. Morgan. Her image appears in profile, facing left. She wears a Phrygian cap along with a coronet and a wreath of laurel. The outer rim of the design includes 13 stars.
Reverse
The reverse design is also by Morgan and shows the heraldic eagle. This powerful symbol of the United States features a bald eagle with wings outstretched, grasping an olive branch in one claw and a bundle of arrows in the other, representing peace and preparedness.
History
The Morgan Dollar originally appeared in 1878, filling the gap left by the retirement of the Seated Liberty Dollar. Its creation signaled a new chapter in silver coin production, which had been on pause for five years. The coin was struck annually until 1904 and made one final return in 1921.
