The 2025 Proof Australian Gold Perth Mint Sovereign Coin comes in a black wooden display box, which is placed in a themed outer shipper. Each coin also includes a Certificate of Authenticity and is composed of 22-karat gold, with 91.67% purity.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 Proof Gold Perth Mint Sovereign Coin displays a portrait of King Charles III. This side shows the King in left-profile relief without a crown. The image is the first official effigy of Charles III used on Australian coinage and was designed by Dan Thorne.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 Proof Australian Gold Sovereign Coin brings back Benedetto Pistruccis historic artwork of St. George battling a dragon. This version is presented by Jennifer McKenna. George, a Roman soldier with Greek heritage, lived in the 3rd century AD. He was executed for his Christian beliefs around 303 AD and later declared a saint. Today, his legacy lives on through many traditions, especially on his feast day, April 23rd.

History

From its opening until 1931, the Perth Mint produced over 106 million gold sovereigns, all made with local gold and marked with the P mintmark. These coins were known for their purity and played an important role in global commerce.
