Product Description
The United States Mint added a third version to its American Silver Eagle series in 2006. This version, known as the Burnished Silver Eagle, is made by tumbling raw silver blanks with fine metal pellets and a special burnishing solution. Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025-W Burnished American Silver Eagle is the timeless Walking Liberty. She moves left across the design toward a rising sun, draped in the flag of the United States. In her right hand, she reaches forward while holding oak and laurel branches in her left.
Reverse
The reverse design, created by Emily Damstra, depicts a bald eagle in flight. The eagles wings are outstretched as it descends, with sharp talons gripping an oak branch, symbolizing strength and readiness.
History
Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design dates back to 1916, when it was selected during a redesign movement inspired by President Theodore Roosevelt. The Commission of Fine Arts held a competition to find new coin imagery, and Weinmans work was chosen for the half dollar. It remained in use until 1947 and has since become one of Americas most iconic coin designs.
