On the reverse, youll see a bald eagle created by artist Emily Damstra. The eagle is pictured flying with its wings raised and an oak branch in its talons, symbolizing both peace and strength.

History

Though the War of 1812 began with some losses for the U.S. Army, including the burning of the nations capital, it ended on a stronger note with important wins like the Battle of New Orleans. Afterward, military structure and training improved, with West Point playing a central role in developing future officers.
