Obverse

On the obverse of the 2026 Somalia Gold Elephant Coin, the design shows Somalias coat of arms. This includes a shield with horizontal lines and a central star, supported by leopards on either side, with palm fronds and spears beneath.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Gold Elephant features a new design of a watering hole scene. A zebra drinks as two African bush elephants approach, with a mountain range rising in the distance.

History

Elephants live in close family groups guided by a matriarch, the oldest female in the herd. She knows where to find food and water and how to keep the herd safe during migrations. Female elephants remain in the family for life, while males leave when grown to live on their own or with other males.
