Obverse

The obverse of the coin shows the debut image of King Charles III for Australian currency. His portrait is in left-profile relief without a crown and was designed by Dan Thorne.

Reverse

On the reverse, youll see a mare and foal running together across a grassy plain with towering mountains behind them. This design was created by Ing Ing Jong, whose work first appeared in The Perth Mints lunar program in 2013.

History

Within Chinese tradition, the horse is seen as a symbol of action, endurance, and vitality. Ancient writings such as the Book of Changes (I Ching) link the horse with the hexagram Qian, representing the drive of heaven and the constant push forward.
