All 2026 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is packaged in a plastic flip for individual purchases or in protective tubes for sets of 20. The coins are made of 24-karat gold and contain .9999 pure gold.

Obverse

The obverse design for the 2026 Gold Buffalo shows a Native American figure in right-profile relief. Created by James Earle Fraser for the 1913 Buffalo Nickel, this portrait blends facial features from three separate Native American leaders from the early 1900s.

Reverse

The reverse design displays an American bison in left-profile relief. This artwork, also by Fraser, was based on a bison named Black Diamond that lived at the Central Park Zoo, shown grazing with its head lowered.

History

The American Gold Buffalo was launched in 2006 and became the first 24-karat gold coin produced annually by the United States Mint. Since its release, the series has seen over 4.8 million coins struck across multiple versions.
