Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Canadian Silver Treasured Maple Leaf Celebration Privy Coin shows the first-generation effigy of King Charles III. Canadian artist Steven Rosati created this portrait, making it only the second monarch design in Canadas coin history to come from a Canadian designer. The left-profile image presents His Majesty without a crown.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Silver Treasured Maple Leaf Celebration Privy Coin is the familiar sugar maple leaf design from the Maple Leaf bullion series. First used in 1979, Walter Otts design captures a single maple leaf with fine natural detail. The Celebration Privy appears just left of the leafs stem.
History
This Treasured Maple Leaf coin features the Celebration Privy, a small circular mark filled with balloons. Balloons became possible thanks to 19th-century advances in rubber. Michael Faraday experimented with rubber in 1824, and Charles Goodyears vulcanization breakthrough in 1839 improved durability and elasticity. Early balloons were mostly novelty toys rather than party staples. By the early 1900s, their use spread into public festivities and childrens celebrations, turning balloons into the cheerful decorations we still use today.
