These 5 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bars are new items manufactured by SilverTowne Mint in the United States. Each bar comes sealed in protective plastic and features the well-known Liberty design from the Morgan Dollar on its obverse.

Designs

On the front of the 5 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bar, youll find the iconic Lady Liberty from the Morgan Dollar in left-profile. The inscriptions E PLURIBUS UNUM and LIBERTY surround Libertys bust, while the bars weight and purity markings are also present. The reverse side of the bar is decorated with a repeating star pattern.

History

The Morgan Silver Dollars origin ties directly to the Comstock Lode, one of the largest silver discoveries in Nevada, and the Bland-Allison Act of 1878. This law required the U.S. government to purchase a set amount of silver monthly to mint into silver dollars. The Morgan Dollar was struck from 1878 to 1904, with one final year of mintage in 1921, resulting in over 500 million coins being produced.
