These 1/4 oz Proof American Gold Eagles hold a PR69 certification from the PCGS, signifying near-perfect coins with full mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. The included DCAM label indicates deep-cameo specimens with strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear backgrounds.

On the obverse side of all Proof American Gold Eagle coins is Augustus Saint-Gaudens design of Lady Liberty, created in 1907 for the $20 Gold Double Eagle. Liberty is shown here in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.

The reverse face of 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagles features the American bald eagle family design by Miley Busiek, introduced in 1986. This image showcases a female eagle in the nest with a male eagle soaring overhead.

The Proof American Gold Eagle Coins, with their unique history, were introduced at various mints. The 1 oz coin has been struck at the West Point Mint since 1986, while the 1/4 oz coins, introduced in 1988, were initially struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Coins in this product listing may feature either P mint marks from the Philadelphia Mint or W mint marks from the West Point Mint. The coins issued from 1988 to 1993 have the P mint mark, and those from 1994 onward have the W mint mark. Please note that we cannot guarantee the date mark on your coin and may send multiples of the same date mark based upon availability.
