Design

On the obverse side of the Brown Bear Gold Note, youll see a group of bears near a forest lake scene. These animals live mostly in Alaska, parts of western Canada, and in a few areas of the northwestern United States, including major national parks. The reverse shows one brown bear, alongside the UV feature that becomes visible under ultraviolet light.

History

North America is home to several kinds of brown bears, from inland grizzlies to the larger Alaskan and Kodiak bears. These animals can grow to over 1,500 pounds depending on their environment and access to food like salmon.
