As a voluntary gold currency, these notes may be used with participating businesses that choose to accept them for goods and services. Design

The obverse of the 1/4 Florida Goldback Gold Note presents Pax in the waters surrounding Molasses Reef. This Florida reef is known for its excellent water clarity and thriving coral environment. Sunlight shines through the shallow waters, creating bright reflections across the reef and highlighting its many colors. The design also references the French Angelfish, a species commonly associated with the reef. Its dark body and golden markings help it stand out as it moves through the coral habitat.

History

Located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Molasses Reef lies about six miles from Key Largo. It is widely known for its marine biodiversity and easy access for divers and snorkelers. The reef earned its name after a vessel transporting molasses became stranded on the reef many years ago. Today, it remains one of Floridas most recognized reef systems and supports a broad range of sea life.
