These 1/2 Florida Goldback Gold Notes are a new addition to the innovative Goldback Series. Crafted with .9999 pure gold sealed within polymer sheets, these notes are designed for long-lasting durability while maintaining their gold content. With the Florida release, the Goldback Series expands to include three new denominations, including this 1/2 Goldback.

Design

The artwork on the 1/2 Florida Goldback Gold Note reflects the history of early European exploration in Florida. A young woman in Spanish Conquistador armor is depicted kneeling beside a fountain. Her helmet rests to the side as she holds water from the mythical Fountain of Youth, a tale that has become a part of Floridas cultural identity.

History

Juan Ponce de Lens arrival in Florida in 1513 marked the beginning of its recorded history. Landing during Pascua Florida (Easter season), he named the region La Florida for its natural beauty and flowering plants. Though often linked to the Fountain of Youth, his journey focused primarily on exploration and territorial expansion. He would later return to Florida, where he met his end in conflict with indigenous peoples.
