These 1 Kilo Sunshine Morgan Silver Bars are newly produced by Sunshine Minting and feature the iconic Liberty portrait from the 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar. Each bar is made in the USA and arrives sealed in protective plastic for safe handling and storage.

Design

On the obverse of each bar is a round image showing Liberty in profile, just as she appeared on the Morgan Silver Dollar. Her calm, confident look helped turn this design into a long-standing favorite. The front also includes hallmarks showing the silver content. The reverse is decorated with a pattern of small stars.

History

The original design came from George T. Morgan, who became the seventh Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. He based the Liberty portrait on Anna Willess Williams, a teacher from Philadelphia who modeled for him in 1876. Morgan wanted a Liberty image that felt American, rather than based on classical art.
