Design

The obverse of the 1000 Milligram Aurum American Bison Gold Note depicts a large plains bison in the foreground with another bison placed further back in the design. A forest-covered mountain range fills the background. These animals historically played a vital role in grassland ecosystems, shaping the land through their natural behaviors. The reverse side includes a different depiction of an American bison and features a security element that only becomes visible under UV light. This detail helps verify the authenticity of each gold note and gives collectors more confidence in their purchase.

History

The American bison once numbered in the tens of millions across North America. But in the 19th century, their population dropped to fewer than 1,000. Today, conservation efforts have brought their numbers back up to around 500,000. Still, only a small fraction of those live in the wild.
