Goldbacks are privately issued notes created as a voluntary local currency. Each note is produced by sealing a thin layer of 24-karat gold between protective sheets of polyester film. The result is a flexible note that contains a measured fractional amount of real gold along with detailed artwork. Goldbacks stand out as one of the few modern forms of currency that combine physical gold ownership with everyday spending potential. The program originally launched in Utah and has since expanded to other states. The Idaho Goldback series marks the newest addition, introducing a fresh denomination and artwork inspired by Idahos history. Right now, 10 Idaho Goldback Gold Notes are available online at BGASC.

Design
On the design of the 10 Idaho Goldback Gold Note, a female allegory known as Perseverantia is shown resting beside a mining cart near Silver City. Situated in the Owyhee Mountains of southwestern Idaho at nearly 6,200 feet in elevation, Silver City is one of the most well-preserved ghost towns in the American West. The historic buildings that remain there today reflect the communitys lively mining era. After large gold and silver deposits were discovered in the 1860s, Silver City rapidly developed into a thriving settlement filled with hotels, saloons, newspapers, and thousands of residents. At one time, the Idaho territorial government even debated making Silver City the territorial capital. When the regions ore supplies began to diminish late in the nineteenth century, the town slowly declined.
History
Perseverantia represents the Roman personification of perseverance and unwavering determination. She symbolizes the quiet strength required to continue through hardship, uncertainty, and setbacks. In classical imagery, she is often portrayed holding a column or stone, representing durability and stability. Her presence reflects the idea that perseverance is not reckless stubbornness, but rather the steady commitment to remain focused when circumstances become difficult.
