Design

In this design, the allegory of Tenacity is shown exploring the Lost Dutchman Mine, one of Americas most enduring treasure legends. The story traces back to Jacob Waltz, a German immigrant nicknamed the Dutchman, who reportedly discovered a hidden gold deposit in the 1870s. He died in 1891, leaving behind cryptic hints that have kept treasure hunters searching for more than a century.

History

The Superstition Mountains rise dramatically east of Phoenix, forming a rugged landscape filled with steep cliffs, rocky spires, and shadowed valleys. These peaks were considered sacred by the Apache, while Spanish explorers and American miners were drawn by rumors of gold hidden deep within the ranges maze-like canyons.
