Each 3 Arizona Limited Early Release Goldback Gold Note comes in a protective plastic slab for safety. PMG graded these notes Mint State 70, meaning they are in perfect condition with no flaws or folds. The 3 Goldback denomination was first introduced in the Oklahoma Series. Only 2,500 of these Limited Early Release notes are available overall.

Design

The 3 Arizona Limited Early Release Goldback Note design shows a faro girl inside a busy saloon setting. Above her is the name Astutia, taken from classical allegory and symbolizing intelligence and resourcefulness. Though saloons were rough and mostly male spaces, the women who worked there became known for their toughness and smarts.

History

During the 1870s and 1880s, saloons across Arizona Territory were the center of town life, especially for gambling. Faro, poker, monte, and roulette drew in miners, cowboys, and drifters looking for fortune. Women often worked in these places as faro girls, dealing cards and managing the games. These jobs gave them financial freedom at a time when few opportunities existed, even if it placed them outside traditional social norms.
