- Argor Heraeus: Established in Switzerland in 1951, Argor Heraeus crafts some of the most unique gold bars on the market. Their kinebars feature a unique hologram embossing on the reverse. They also offer lunar-themed bars coinciding with the Chinese zodiac.
- Germania Mint: What started as a small numismatic store in Poland is now a top private mint in Europe. The Germania Mint creates .9999 pure gold cast bars that come in an array of sizes.
- The Holy Land Mint: The Holy Land Mint is a brand under the Israel Coins and Medal Corporation (ICMC). Gold bars from The Holy Land Mint are minted ingots that showcase the Dove of Peace on the obverse. This striking image shows a dove flying over the Old City walls of Jerusalem with an olive branch in its mouth.
- PAMP Suisse: Founded in 1977, this Switzerland-based mint creates some of the most recognizable gold bars in the world. PAMP Suisse was among the first to start putting complex designs on their gold bars. Their Fortuna bars feature the Roman goddess of fortune while their Rosa Series displays a budding rose.
- Perth Mint: The Perth Mint was created in 1899 as the third and final colonial branch of the UK’s Royal Mint in Australia. Now under the ownership of the state government of Western Australia, they create a wide array of popular gold minted ingots and gold cast bars.
- Sunshine Minting: Founded in 1979, Sunshine Minting is among the most well-known private American mints. They use their ingenious MintMark SI on their gold bars, a unique security feature that you can only see with a Sunshine decoder lens. They’re also known for their Mercury bars showing the Roman god on the obverse.
- Valcambi: This Switzerland-based mint creates some of the most compelling gold bars in the world. Among them is their popular CombiBars, large gold bars that can be easily broken off into smaller pieces.
Types of Gold Bars
There are three main types of gold bars that you’ll find at BGASC.
- Cast Bar: Gold shot or ingots are placed into a mold, which is then heated. Once cooled, the bar is removed and given design elements on one side.
- Hand-Poured Bar: Similar process as cast bars except molten gold is poured into a mold, with one side being left exposed.
- Minted Ingot: These bars start off as blanks, pieces of metal in the shape and size of a bar with no design elements. Minted ingots are then placed into a machine that uses thousands of pounds of force to stamp design elements into it.
